Modern Hexagon Pond Quilt

This is today’s quilt finish. It is made with Elizabeth Hartman’s Pond fabric line and coordinating Kona solids.

Hexagon Pond quilt pieced and quilted by Anita LaHay of Daydreams of Quilts.

I cut the hexagons from 8 1/2″ strips that I had cut from my fat quarter bundles. I used the Hex n More Ruler by Jaybird Quilts for my cutting. I didn’t really have a plan or a pattern to follow I was just winging it. 🙂

I pieced this quilt yesterday. Yes, there are Y seams but once you get used to those they are a piece of cake. Here is a tutorial I did a few years ago on piecing hexagons.

I quilted 6″ hexagons inside the 8″ hexagons.

I kept the modern clean lined look of this quilt by quilting 6″ hexagons inside the 8″ hexagons using a plastic template from a Moda Honeycombs pack as a guide.

The back of the quilt is a Tim Holtz print of old fashioned ledgers.
Daydreams of Quilts label from Dutch Label Shop.

I machine sewed the binding to the front and the back of the quilt. I love my woven quilt labels from Dutch Label Shop. I’m starting to run low but my original 150 has lasted over a year.

This quilt is for sale in my Etsy shop here.
