Ocean Themed Throw Quilt

This is a fun ocean themed throw quilt I finished last week for my Etsy shop.

Ocean Themed Throw Quilt pieced and quilted by Daydreams of Quilts.

I used the Red Velvet quilt pattern by Thimble Blossoms which is a layer cake pattern but I changed mine up to use quarter yards and fat quarters. I had quarter yard cuts of the main ocean fabrics and fat quarters of Kona and Blueberry Park fabrics.

It was a bit tricky because I wasn’t following the cutting instructions in the pattern so I sewed one row at a time. I quickly realized that decisions on one row affect the next row after it so there was some minor seam ripping involved.

I think the extra brain power needed was worth it in the end.

This quilt is a nice size for a coverlet on a twin bed.

The backing is a fun print of tentacles coming out of the ocean waves.

This quilt was a great stash buster and used up several fat quarters. I quilted it with all over “balls on string” or in this case we can call them bubbles.
