Birdhouse Quilt Block Free Pattern and Tutorial
We have two homemade birdhouses in our front yard that have two families of sparrows living in them. These little birds are a lot of fun to watch from our front deck. All of the birdwatching inspired me to write a free birdhouse quilt block pattern.

My husband made these bird houses with our kids a few years ago and they are occupied year-round.
This pattern is a free download and makes a six inch finished quilt block. You can combine four blocks together to make a 12” block. The doors of the birdhouses are made with fabric yo-yos made using a Clover Yo-Yo Maker. If you prefer not to make yo-yos you can applique a fabric circle to the bird houses.

I made my blocks with Liberty of London Tanna Lawns and Essex Yarn Dyed Linens.
I have recorded a YouTube video tutorial for how to sew these blocks.
I hope you enjoy making this quilt block. Please tag me on Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or Threads) @daydreamsofquilts so I can see your projects. Have a wonderful summer.
Coming up: I have designed a series of 12″ summer quilt block patterns in two themes that I plan to publish over July and August so keep an eye out for those.
