Hello! Welcome to the Canadian Summer Quilt Along 2018!
Twelve Canadian block designers have teamed up with me to bring you this fun, free and patriotic quilt along. Each designer will design a 12″ finished quilt block and offer it to Quilt Along participants for free during their week in the quilt along. Some might even offer bonus blocks. After each week is up the designers have the option of charging a fee for their blocks so make sure to follow along each week and get your downloads. Some blocks will remain free forever but it is up to each individual designer if they want to charge a fee after their week in the quilt along.
How it works:
The Quilt Along Starts June 11, 2018 and new blocks will be released every Monday. Some bonus blocks will be released on Thursdays too! All links will be added to this main Quilt Along page here on the Daydreams of Quilts Blog. The Quilt along runs through to August 27, 2018 with a grand prize winner to be announced on September 3, 2018 from a random draw of all the finished quilt tops posted in the hashtag #canadiansummerqal between August 27 and September 2.
You do not have to be a Canadian to participate. This Quilt Along is open to everyone and many of our blocks will resonate with people from all over the world.
There are many different quilting techniques offered in the blocks from traditional piecing, to curved piecing, to applique, to foundation paper piecing and improv piecing. So many learning opportunities are presented.
This is your quilt so you can feel free to make it however you like. You do not have to use all blocks and, as mentioned, there will be some bonus blocks so you can swap out blocks or use all the blocks.
Prizes:
Some of our designers will be offering prizes and giveaways so watch for those too in the weeks to come.
There will be a grand prize draw from all the finished quilt tops posted in the hashtag #canadiansummerqal on Instagram between August 27 and Sept 2, 2018. Prizes for the grand prize are being donated by some of the sponsors listed below. The winner will be announced on the Daydreams of Quilts blog and on Instagram and Facebook September 3, 2018. The winner will be contacted by Instagram tag and Instagram direct message. (This giveaway is not sponsored by or affiliated with Instagram.)
Note: You will need to have a public Instagram account in order for your post to show up in the hashtag for us to see and be counted in the draw. You need to add #canadiansummerqal in the comment of your public post for it to show up in the hashtag.
