If you’ve been following me for a while you know I love vacationing in the Rocky Mountains. It only made sense for me to design a quilt that expresses my great love for this place. My quilt features mountains, pine trees, blue sky and a turquoise lake all within a Pixel Heart.

Christmas Lattice Quilt with optional hot cocoa appliqué by Daydreams of Quilts.
This quilt looks great in red and green for Christmas but would also be perfect in other complementary colour schemes for year round quilts.
Hot cocoa is trending right now in a huge way so I designed these cute little appliqué hot cocoa mugs with hearts on them to add to the quilt if you wish. Inside the PDF file there are two additional quilt layout diagrams with different placement options for the mugs.
Hot cocoa appliqué templates are included in the pattern.
I drew the mugs in EQ7 (quilt design software) and I love how they turned out! The templates are included in the pattern.

I made my test blocks into a cute runner for my hot cocoa bar that I set up on the top of my deep freeze. Hot cocoa bars are the in thing right now according to my kids who have been thoroughly enjoying ours.

Another idea is so sew a bed runner for the foot of a bed at the holidays. Just add a few more blocks to the runner above.

The finished Jack O Heart Halloween throw quilt by Daydreams of Quilts.
I got extremely motivated and pieced, basted, quilted and bound this quilt all in one day! (Yes, I was very tired afterwards.) I have a system down pat for these pixel heart quilts now and I use the knee lift lever on my sewing machines to help speed things up. It actually does save time.

I was wanting to sew a Halloween quilt but couldn’t afford to buy fabric. I started looking through my “holiday fabrics” basket and was surprised to discover that I had enough Halloween prints for a whole quilt!
Spider webs on purple for the binding.
I was very pleased that I was able to bust quite a bit of my stash. 🙂
We had a beautiful fall day for photos and I ran out with the quilt as soon as the binding was sewn down.Jack O Heart quilt with fall foliage.A quick little video of the quilt.
Thank you for visiting my blog today. I hope your Halloween preparations are going well.
I finished a quilt yesterday! This one was for a custom order from my Etsy shop. The customer who ordered it said it is for a gift for a new family coming to Canada from Syria. What an amazing welcome gift!

Yesterday was a perfect prairie day for quilt photos. I am thankful I finished yesterday because today is windy and stormy and I would not have been able to take photos.
The fabrics are almost all Moda. Mostly from Kate and Birdie’s “True North” line but there are also some French General fabrics, Moda grunge and Moda grunge dots.
There is a horse paddock at the end of our street and the horses seemed interested in what my son and I were doing with this quilt near their fence. I like to think this quilt is horse-approved. 🙂
I hope the family love their new quilt and their new country! <3
