Personalized Gifts for the Holidays at Daydreams of Quilts

Initial Pillow Covers at Daydreams of Quilts

At the time of this post it’s still the first half of November but now is the time to start planning and ordering personalized and customized gifts for the holidays. Today’s post showcases our personalized items at Daydreams of Quilts.

Initial pillow covers at Daydreams of Quilts.

Our initial pillow covers have been one of our most popular items since we first listed them in 2017. Last year we didn’t offer them at the holidays but this year we are offering them along with our personalized stockings, Santa sacks and even a personalized patchwork quilt.

Our Christmas stockings are by far our most popular personalized item at the holidays. Order early… the moose are already sold out!

Examples of our personalized stockings.

We thought in addition to our personalized initial pillow covers that our customers might like a matching throw quilt. As with the pillow covers, colour preference can be selected during the checkout process for these.

We recently added personalized book covers to the mix as well.

Our Santa sacks are printed in an eco-friendly water-saving way by Spoonflower using pigment inks. Read more about how using Spoonflower fabrics saves water and our environment here.

I hope this post has helped generate some holiday gift ideas to make your gifts for loved ones extra special this year.

Check my Instagram account later today for a stocking giveaway. (I just need to take a photo when the light is better and then I can post it.) 🙂

reusable drawstring fabric gift bags

This year I have worked to incorporate eco-friendly solutions into my shop both in the products I have made and the materials I have used. One of the new products this year is the Reusable Drawstring Fabric Gift Bags.

These bags have been very popular and have been selling since July! The bags below this paragraph made with “Wintertide” from Figo Fabrics have sold out twice! Wintertide fabrics are available at Studio 39 Fabrics.

Wintertide bags are available here while supplies last.

If you want to make your own bags you can find a tutorial on the “In Color Order” blog by Jeni Baker. If you don’t have time (or run out of time) there are 15 listings to choose from in our shop.

Here are some farmhouse style gift bags. Only three available.

And the ever popular red Christmas truck motif. Also only three available. We also have coordinating throw pillow covers and stockings with this same motif.

And one more new thing for this year in our shop are personalized Santa Sacks and Mini Santa sacks found in the fabric gift bags section of our shop. I hope we can help to reduce gift wrap going into landfills and save our customers money down the road with these reusable options. I have had a lot of fun putting together fabric combinations for bags and making all of them.

Holiday Lodge Christmas Throw Quilt Light Version

Holiday Lodge Throw Quilt

Here is the first of two quilts I have finished in the last week. This quilt uses a “Holiday Lodge” quilt panel designed by Deb Strain for Moda Fabrics. I used some Holiday Lodge fabrics and mixed in other fabrics from my stash including: Basic Grey’s “Evergreen” line, Tula Pink’s “Holiday Homies” line and some Kate and Birdie “True North” fabrics. The “Holiday Lodge” fabrics were purchased from Birdie and Dot Fabrics. There is also Kona Snow and Kona Black fabric in this quilt.

I added ornament blocks, tree blocks and present blocks to the panel pieces to expand the quilt to a throw size. The quilt measures 54.5″ x 65″.

The quilt is quilted with various custom quilting motifs throughout.

Quilting motifs include wishbones, straight line, loop-de-loops and stippling. The outer border is quilted with feathers.

Sailboat Quilt in Daysail Fabrics

This sailboat quilt was finished just over a week ago. Made with Daysail fabics by Bonnie and Camille for Moda with a white on white background. The Kona for the inner border and sashing is Kona Splash available here from Studio 39 Fabrics. The Sailboat quilt can be found here in our Etsy shop.

I had originally planned to write a free pattern for this quilt but maybe there are enough sailboat patterns? Leave a comment below and let me know if you want me to hurry up and finish the pattern for this. 🙂

I quilted clouds in the white background and waves in the sashing and inner border. The sails are quilted with back and forth lines and the border is quilted with meandering stipple quilting. The boats have waves quilted on them too. I switched out threads to match the fabrics. All threads are Aurifil 50 weight 100% cotton threads.

I used a pretty ombre rainbow wideback for the backing (I believe this one is from Windham fabrics.)

Garden Vines Quilt in Flourish Fabrics

Horizontal photo of the Garden Vines / Morning Glory quilt.

We, very happily, had a bit of a run on quilts in our shop last month so I’m needing to get moving on some works in progress and get them listed! This quilt was finished a week and a half ago but haven’t had a chance to write about it until now with all the busyness of back to school. I am calling this quilt the Garden Vines Quilt but it was made using the Morning Glory quilt pattern by Allison Harris of Cluck Cluck Sew. Made entirely with the Flourish fabric line for quilt top and we still have some of these fabrics available here.

I quilted ribbon candy all down the stems and leaf shaped loops on the leaves. The yellow background is quilted with meandering stippling. It took a full day to quilt this quilt on my Juki.

Canadian Flag Heart Quilt

Canadian Flag Heart Quilt

I finished a quilt yesterday! This one was for a custom order from my Etsy shop. The customer who ordered it said it is for a gift for a new family coming to Canada from Syria. What an amazing welcome gift!

These Canadian Flag quilts are available both as a PDF Pattern and as a custom order quilt in my Etsy shop.

Yesterday was a perfect prairie day for quilt photos. I am thankful I finished yesterday because today is windy and stormy and I would not have been able to take photos.

The fabrics are almost all Moda. Mostly from Kate and Birdie’s “True North” line but there are also some French General fabrics, Moda grunge and Moda grunge dots.

There is a horse paddock at the end of our street and the horses seemed interested in what my son and I were doing with this quilt near their fence. I like to think this quilt is horse-approved. 🙂

I hope the family love their new quilt and their new country! <3
